Welcome Back Santana . . .
After being basically a non factor in the first three games, Santana Moss showed up in a big way against a top notch defense with three touchdown grabs in a thrilling overtime victory at home against the Jags last Sunday, that had The Burgundy & Gold Faithful dancing in the aisles! The offense with Clinton Portis back in the fold looked very sharp in the second half, with the most important play coming right at the beginning of the overtime period . . . when they won the coin toss. The defense is still too porous for my tastes, but they at least are getting a little bit of pressure. The offensive line was vastly improved, and now that Brunell sees what kind of success is possible in this system, maybe we will have some more fireworks this Sunday!
Divisional Sunday ~ We make a trip to visit an old friend this weekend as The Redskins visit the dysfunctional family known as the New York Football Giants. And our old buddy Lavar Arrington is back where we are used to seeing him . . . in the Trainers Room. He has not made quite the splash that the G-Men were hoping for when they signed him in the offseason, but that is pretty much par for the course for him. The Giants' secondary has had the whole bye week to stew about giving up so many big plays in their butt-whipping by Seattle, so I expect them to play better ~ but our offensive line showed last week that they can give Brunell time to throw the ball when the threat of the run exists, so I look for the Redskins to beat the Giants and push us into second place with the Cowboys , who are going to get DRILLED in Philly!
