        Forget Jimmy Hoffa . . . can someone find our Offense?

The Coaching staff of the Washington Redskins made the trip to the Meadowlands on Sunday afternoon to play a key divisional game against the previously reeling New York Football Giants.  Unfortunately, the players must have missed the plane, because they did NOT show up!  The offense was non-existent against a Giants defense that had been a sieve in the previous 3 games.  Clinton Portis had only 76 yards, and the passing game barely equaled that total, with Mark Brunell underthrowing, overthrowing, and getting pressured all day long.  After a missed field goal in the first quarter, the Burgundy & Gold never threatened again.  The Defense bent quite a bit in the first half, with third down conversion issues a problem all day long, but they did hold Eli Manning off the scoreboard until the second-half, back-of-the-endzone grab by Plaxico Burress. The offense just never got ANYTHING going, and the 19 – 3 final score was a good indicator of just how boring we played.

This week we will have some new/old faces in key positions as Kicker John Hall has continued his downward spiral into "Medical Hell" and has been placed on IR with his quadriceps problem.  Fresh-faced Nick Novak returns to take over the kicking duties after a good audition Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully that will shore up that area of concern, while on the defensive side of the ball, it is rumored that we just might see the 2006 debut of Cornerback Shawn Springs this weekend against the Winless Tennessee Titans.  He has been running and practicing this week, so if he is ready to go, perhaps we can get back to the blitzing, swarming defense Coach Williams is known for.  Rookie QB Vince Young will be under center again for the Titans, and with his low delivery, we should be able to get a good number of tipped passes.  His legs pose a little bit of the same type threat that McNabb does, so this should be a good tune-up for that matchup coming up.  But, hopefully, our guys aren’t looking that far ahead as no one wants to be the first to lose to a winless team!
