Let’s Kill Two Birds With One Stone

Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field, our Redskins have a chance, with one game, to do the two things that every Redskins team strives for each year . . . make the Playoffs AND beat the Cowboys!

After dousing what once was “the hottest team in the NFC” on Sunday Night in Minneapolis, the Washington Redskins have assumed that title, winning three in a row and taking control of their own post-season destiny.

The defense stuffed Rookie Phenom Adrian Peterson in a sack, and dared QB Tavaris Jackson to beat them through the air . . . uhhh . . . NOT!  The secondary was more than up to the task, with Jackson’s only success coming in the 2^nd half when we looked to be in a prevent defense.

So now we have what we wanted . . . a chance to “Win and Get In.”  All we have to do is beat the Cowboys, who have virtually nothing to play for and should be resting most of their starters, at least in the 2^nd half.  “Motor‑mouth” T.O. will be out with a high ankle sprain, and the Cowboys have numerous other injuries that they will be trying to heal from also. They do have some players going for individual accomplishments (Romo – Cowboys Completion Percentage; Witten -100 receptions; Barber – 1000 yards), but they are each fairly close to those marks, so the second half should see a whole lot of our old friend Brad Johnson, Anthony Fasano, and Julius Jones. 

But as I have always said, I root for whoever is wearing the uniforms, so I don’t care who they roll out there.  Let’s knock ‘em down and get to the Playoffs . . . because once we get in, everyone’s record is  0 – 0!
