DROPPED OPPORTUNITIES!

    Well, our trip to the Not-So-Frozen-Tundra of Lambeau Field was a bit of a disappointment, but I hope the Skins got that out of their system on Sunday against the Packers.  I have never seen so many dropped balls in my life, with everyone getting into the act . . . and all of the drops seeming to be drive stoppers . . . especially that late-game one by Mike Sellers.  Portis looked good, and Cooley was the bomb, but we need more consistency out of that Offense!  We keep hearing and talking about the maturation of Jason Campbell, but I think the next step for him to take is to lift up the team around him.

Four quick observations, and then on to the Cardinals . . .

1. Is it just me or do you never see Santana Moss and Jason Campbell talking on the sidelines?  For a QB and #1 WR that seem so out of sync, it sure does seem like they could use a little more communication.  Even the classic cancer Randy Moss sits by his QB on the bench on occasion.
2. FOX-TV's graphics really really stink . . . I want the play clock . . . and I want to know who scored in other games.
3. Has Ladell Betts gained a lot of weight this off-season?  He looks slow, slow, slow . . .
4. Finally, I will put on my "heresy hat"  . . . Is Coach Gibbs having just a little trouble adjusting to the difference between the 40 second play clock he had in the old days and the 25 second clock of today?  I am going to have a stroke if we keep burning timeouts like this because he can’t make a snap decision.  A couple of timeouts would have been nice to have on the last drive . . . what there was of it. 

    Our old friends, the Cardinals, come to town this week in a "world of hurt" at Quarterback, with Kurt Warner on the infirmed list (right after I traded for him). and Tim Rattay playing like he wants to be on that list!  They have some pieces on offense in Larry Fitzgerald and Edgerrin James, but no one to pull it all together.  Their defense is predictably bad, so hopefully we can wash the taste of Green Bay Brats out of our collective mouths with a strong win against another NFC opponent.  We have the mighty Patriots on the horizon, but we aren’t good enough to look past anyone, so hopefully the guys will be focused enough to take care of business.

Lastly, good thoughts and prayers go out to the Springs Family . . .
