___________________________________________________________YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD EXPECT IT BY NOW . . .
After all, the Redskins HAVE won 5 of the last 7 meetings with the “expectationally-challenged” Cowboys. However ~ ~ they didn’t! No one but the Burgundy & Gold Faithful expected the outcome that transpired at Texas Stadium last Sunday afternoon. And that made it all the more sweet! The Cowboys fans, the media, the rest of the league, had no excuses . . . no “We didn’t play our starters” . . . no “You got a lucky call” . . . no NOTHING . . . except abject DOMINATION and GLORIOUS VICTORY for us to salt away on our journey to the larger prize . . . the NFC Eastern Division Title!
The Defense was OUTSTANDING in all respects on Sunday, with big props going to last year’s goat, Shawn Springs. Newbie Chris Horton had ANOTHER interception, giving him three times as many as the entire Cowboys vaunted defense has had ALL YEAR! The run defense, when it was even tested, was more than up to the task, causing SUPERSTAR Tony Romo to check out of almost all the running plays the Cowboys had in their books. The Offense continued to progress with the quick drop and slants, moving the ball methodically down the field, and a nice 100+ yard dose of Clinton Portis straight down their Blue and Silver throats just put the proverbial cherry on top of an absolutely exquisite sendoff to the monstrosity the Cowboys have been calling a stadium lo this many years. This was definitely the last time we will visit that toilet . . . because if we play the Cowboys in the Playoffs, it will be in the friendly confines of Fedex Field.
Next up is an absolutely crucial game against the desperate Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. We have a chance to put Donovan and the Green Gang in a very large divisional hole with a loss, so we need to keep the momentum up. Our guys recognize the importance of just building off the victory from Sunday, with London Fletcher already calling the defense together Monday morning (their day off) for a film session. The Eagles will be trying to get “All World Runner” Brian Westbrook back on the field after he missed their Sunday night loss to the Bears with a high ankle sprain, but he certainly won’t be 100% if he gets on the field at all, so we may catch a break there. Their #1 receiver, Kevin Curtis, is still a few weeks out from returning from preseason hernia surgery, but Rookie DeSean Jackson and Reggie Brown are filling in acceptably, along with Old Man Time, LJ Smith. If Westbrook can’t go, then the Eagles are a much easier team to defend; but they know that, and will do whatever it takes to get him out there, if at all possible.
We got a healthy dose of “RESPECT” from the Football World as a result of the Victory over the ‘Boys. Now is the time to show the World that the game Sunday was not our Super Bowl . . . just another step on the way to our main goal . . . a Division Title.
HAIL! .........................................John Priddy
