ON A MISSION TO DESTROY THE DEATHSTAR!
Well, who the heck were those guys wearing the Burgundy & Gold last weekend? An all around good performance led to a stirring 27 -17 victory over the visiting Broncos! Santana was a non factor with Champ Bailey covering him tight all day, but the rest of the offense came through with a little help from Hunter Smith! And the defense played well enough, with a little help from Chris Simms! Ladell Betts ran strongly in the absence of still concussed Clinton Portis, breaking the century mark and just seeming to hit the holes with authority. Overall, it was great to get a WIN, and great to get a win that we didn’t have to be ashamed of (see games vs. Rams and Bucs).
This week, our band of Jedi Knights make their first visit to the evil Deathstar as our Redskins invade the Cowboys' new home in Arlington. The Cowboys looked pathetic last Sunday in Green Bay, and some big injuries for the Cowpies came out of the game as well. Right tackle Marc Columbo is out for the season with a broken leg, Safety Ken Hamlin is out for at least 3 weeks with a high ankle sprain, and Cornerback Michael Jenkins is going to be tender from his banged up biceps. We came out with some bumps and bruises, too - - - Big Al Haynesworth has a sprained ankle, but is not expected to miss time, and Portis is probably going to miss the Dallas game.
The Dallas fans, players and media are already counting this upcoming game as a win. However, they haven’t seen the Redskins play the last 2 weeks. We are starting to put a few things together with the talent we have. We have some speed rushers that can get around lard-butt Flozell Adams. We have some receivers that can challenge their secondary. The strength of their team SHOULD be running the ball if their Red-Headed Stepchild of an Offensive Coordinator would pull his head out, but he still continues to pass the ball more than running it. So if we can get some pressure on Romo from the sides, and force him to step up, Big Al should be there to collapse the front of the pocket on him.
The key to our success is going to be the Offensive Line - - - we HAVE to give Jason Campbell enough time to throw the ball 15 to 20 times - - - that, coupled with some more power running from Ladell Betts, and we may just be able to take down the Deathstar and restore order to the galaxy!

Also in the News . . .
Hunter Smith's 35-yard TD pass to Mike Sellers has been nominated as one of this week's "Sprint Can't Miss Plays." Let's make this the favorite by voting at NFL.com/fans.
As the running game turns
"If he suffers no further post-concussion symptoms, Clinton Portis will be the Redskins' starting running back,"Jim Zorn said Monday. He wasn't, however, certain when he'd make a final decision about Portis's status, . . . and if Ladell Betts gets the majority of the practice plays this week, he'll likely start a second straight game.
"I don't think it would be prudent to say [Portis] is going to be ready on Sunday if he can't run hard and work through the practice week," Zorn said.
Rookie of the week
Brian Orakpo is a finalist for ROOKIE OF THE WEEK with fan voting at nfl.com. He's up against Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin, Packers LB Clay Matthews, Bengals RB Bernard Scott, and Cardinals RB Beanie Wells.
