O N   T H E   R O A D   A G A I N

 

     Our Washington Redskins start the new season off in the Big Apple again this year with an important opening game against the New York Football Giants.  This offseason has been an uneventful one from most perspectives, with no major players leaving, no coaching changes, no controversies, or anything really negative at all.  

 

     From the team that faltered down the stretch due to a lack of late game defense, the front office added two huge pieces in Longhorn Rookie Brian Orakpo, and the Jewel of the Free Agent crop, Albert Haynesworth.  These two guys are going to be Monster additions and will make the entire defense better.

 

     The offense is thankfully in the hands of QB Jason Campbell again as he finally gets to show us what he can do in a system he is familiar with.  It is definitely time for Jason to step up and show us he is ready to take this team where it deserves to be . . . at the top of a very winnable division.  All of the other teams in the NFC East have weaknesses, and it is just going to be up to our coaching staff to exploit them -- Philly’s loss of their longtime Defensive Coordinator and on-field Defensive play-caller; the Cowboys lack of depth at nearly every position; and the Giants lack of proven receivers.

 

     It’s tough to start off the season with a division game on the road, but that’s the hand we have been dealt.  So let’s put this one behind us with one in the “W” column!
