THE PROPER TOOLS FOR THE JOB!
Everyone needs the proper tools to do their job right. A West Coast Quarterback needs a quick release and the ability to make the correct decision in an expeditious fashion. An effective General Manager needs the football acumen to recognize up and coming talent, the negotiating skills to sign the right players, and the fortitude to rebuff stupid requests from the team owner. The Head Coach needs the football sense to manage the situations that come up during the Sunday afternoon battles, and the leadership abilities to command his team and enable them to accomplish his vision. Well kids, we are “0 for 3 at the plate” to borrow a term from the Baseball universe. We have absolutely NONE of the above and, consequently, we are the laughingstock of the NFL.
Are we at Rock Bottom yet? Sadly . . . no. But there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for those of us that bleed Burgundy and Gold. There are various reports that the bane of our collective existence, Vinny Cerrato, may have his fate tied to that of our tenuously employed Coach, Jim Zorn. I think we all recognize that changing the Coach without changing out Cerrato will do no good. There is a storm headed to Fedex Field this Monday Night that may go a long way towards resolving this situation. The only good thing about the game against the Chiefs was the merciful end.
Sherm Lewis will be calling plays this Monday Night from the booth, so get ready for a whole bunch of “delay of game” penalties. Jason Campbell will be back under center, so get ready for another literally “offensive” performance from the Offense. And my experimental time machine did not pass its field trials and is a complete failure, so the “HOGS” will not be subbing for our patchwork offensive line against the Eagles.
The Eagles lost to the Raiders this past Sunday, so they are coming into this game blistering mad. The stadium will more than likely be close to half full of drunken Eagles fans, as we usually don’t represent well on Monday Nights, and the Redskins fans that do come out will be in no mood for shenanigans - - so the REAL action this Monday Night may be in the stands! There is some solace in sharing the pain, so come on out to Austin Avenue and join in the therapy session.
“Hi Group, my name is John Priddy . . . . and I am a fan of the Washington Redskins.”
