A PLEASANT SUNDAY . . .
I don’t know about you guys, but I spent last Sunday with my family at Six Flags, enjoying the beautiful weather and having a lot of fun. I raised a few middle fingers to the Cowboys’ “Monstrosity of a Stadium” while at the top of the hill on the Titan, but other than that, my mind was off football for a while. Hopefully you were able to get a respite from the stress as well, but now it is time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work.
The Bye Week produced few headlines, other than Vinny and Coach Zorn sniping at each other some more, and Mr. Snyder apologizing to all who would listen for the state of the team. Chris Samuels was put on IR like we all knew he would be, but Chris Cooley was not. It appears he will be back in about 3 weeks after having his fractured ankle repaired with screws. So that is some good news. Also on the good news front is the statement from Coach Zorn on his radio show on Tuesday that the punt return duties will be handled by committee (DeAngelo, Santana and Devin making up that committee for the most part).
This week we are on the road, visiting a desperate Falcons team that has lost 2 in a row and needs a victory to stay relevant. The strength of their offense is the running of Michael Turner, which should play into our strength on Defense of stuffing the run. Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez are more than capable receivers, but the engine that makes them go is Turner, so if we can stop him, then Ryan will put the ball up - - and he has been careless with the ball the last couple of weeks.
IF we can get a couple of turnovers, and IF the offensive line can give our Quarterback (whoever that might be at the moment) some time to work, and IF Portis can get some burst going . . . maybe we can catch them napping.
A lot of IFs, I know. But, hey, that is the life of a Redskins Fan nowadays. And that IS what we are!
Hail! ...............................................................John Priddy
